This is what I learned about fasting; spirit = God & soul = self. It is a divine challenge from God. He sets at strategic moments in our life. It is disconnecting from the world and reconnecting with God. A fast should be something you hear directly from God and not one pushed on you by someone else. It’s a personal time to hear God’s voice. A fast is however long God says and it can be a total fast (no food just water/tea) or one meal a day, no sweets like I did. Or even a Daniel fast which I’ve also done. My 1st 40-day fast was in July + August 2019. My second 40-day fast was a Daniel fast in January + February 2021.
