Sweet Magnolias Season 3 Review

3 friends laughing, talking, drinking margaritas.

This sweet as honey show has taken Netflix and the world by storm. Serenity is an idealistic place that just doesn’t seem real. It may for some but for the majority it’s a fantasy many wish could be true. This season they infused religion and prayer more. Not in a punch-you-in-the-face type of way but as a foundational storyline type of way.

took place showed a loving way how to handle such delicate moments in one’s life. Hopefully providing an example for those of us who like to let it be known don’t come ‘round here with that mess.

The complexities of the characters were written in a way that not only makes them realistic but relatable. Sweet Magnolias is the type of show that just calms your nervous system. Brings pleasant memories to mind. Or at least allows you to imagine some. There was only one thing I didn’t like this season, well two.

The way a certain character (Bill) was treated due to his many past mistakes. I understand everyone was hurt but some of the things he got blamed for he wasn’t even aware of them until his now grown child introduced himself to him. But anyway, family dynamics are complicated. And this storyline got even more complicated when it crossed and connected to another through a sibling who held too tight to a grudge that created a vendetta. The magic of T.V. was the road to reconciliation for both families.

The other thing I disliked was how a certain character left a good man for a man who failed her more times than she could remember. Like why couldn’t Helen just be happy? Absolutely hated that her character was written to look too emotionally entangled with a non-committed ex who didn’t know when to leave well enough alone. To be so smart and yet make a dumb teen dating decision.

Well that’s a drama for you. Anyway, I enjoyed watching this season of Sweet Magnolias and looking forward to season 4.
