I finally watched this panel discussion and it was full of so many gems that need to be on display especially within the Black Church.
Personally, I believe women are oppressed because the Black Church was the first place that Black men were able to hold leadership positions, be looked up to and expected to be held in high regard. And that misogyny that began from an entitled place only grew more prominent and louder.
Are there people i.e. men fighting against that? Absolutely but not enough, not loud enough and not public enough to hold others accountable for misinterpreting the Bible to keep women in our “place.”
