11 Then the word of the Lord came to me, asking, “What do you see, Jeremiah?” I replied, “I see a branch of an almond tree.” 12 The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I watch over my word to accomplish it.”
Jeremiah 1:11-12
The almond tree represents the best of life to me [Gen. 43:11- the best gifts Isreal told Judah to take back to Egypt and present].
Here’s how I see the blooming and fruit of the tree as to how God has been speaking recently to me in my life. The flowers bloom early and are considered beautiful. I believe I bloomed early. People raved about my beautiful mind, how I thought, my execution of strategy. That has lasted most of my life.
An almond tree takes months between flower bloom and fruit to ripen is where I feel I am now.
In order for an almond tree to create a harvest it needs [Matt 13:1-9- The Parable of the Sower] sufficient sun (Jesus the Son), water (the Word), the right soil conditions (repentance and obedience) and the right temperature (the Holy Spirit keeping you even-tempered). If the almond tree represents how God works in one’s life this explains mine.
It can take up to 5 or 6 years before an almond tree can bring a harvest. Lord, please don’t let it take that long in my life. And the fruit has to fall not be plucked.
Did y’all know almonds were fruit and not nuts?
I didn’t until I did my research. It’s like a peach or apricot. That’s the fruit family almonds belong in.
Anyway, let’s get back to what I believe the almond tree is saying to me.
It is taking some time for God’s Word to bear fruit in my life. I plucked too soon. I plucked being impatient. I plucked at what I wanted God’s Word to say to me.
The almond tree represents renewal and hope. Coming back into fellowship with Christ after 15 years has been a renewal of my life and brought hope I would live out my calling. Like so many of you want to live out your calling to glorify God.
An almond tree is the first to bloom and last to bear fruit. I was the first to bloom and feel my fruit is coming last of all I know. God spoke a Word over my life, I just have to allow the fruit to ripen then pick it up when it’s ready for me.
Very nice!
