You Had Me At Black Houston Live

{I was invited to attend and my ticket was compensated. But I’m sharing my personal experience attending this event.}

This past Saturday I attended You Had Me At Black Houston Live event. I didn’t know what to expect as this was my first live podcast recording for someone else. I walked into Lion’s Heart Studios (which by the way, I’ve never heard of before. Funny how people not from Houston are showing me more of my city.) and it was set up like a poetry reading. It was a nice ambience. The music was playing to get people settled and in the mood.

Everyone showed up in some form of black except me. I usually wear black but decided to buy a nonblack dress and wear that. I told my sister and she laughed saying the one time I don’t wear black. Like I showed up to a masquerade ball as a clown, lmbo. We laughed at that.

Anyway, back to the event. People mixed and mingled before the actual programming started. Then we listened to 4 storytellers. I left after the fourth one. But I was able to capture the IG lives from You Had Me At Black account so you can see. I also encourage you to listen to their podcast as well. It went from hilarious to reflective in a matter of an hour. Our community definitely needs more storytellers so we can see the differences in our journeys but also see how much our stories are alike in some ways.

But here are Houston’s storytellers.

P.S. I’m pretty happy about figuring this out and editing this video myself. But I’m going to stick more with writing as this was work, lol.
