Are you equipped to survive 2017?
I am. Even with the chaos of the political climate in our country, I still believe there is opportunity in the midst of it all.
So glad you asked.
When you have a simple mental detox strategy in place, it allows your mind to be open to see opportunities that you may not otherwise see.
Here’s what I mean. Last January I was in the middle of recording my podcast, ‘A Toast to Truths‘ and an idea popped in my head. Literally in the middle of recording an episode. That’s how The Truth Confidant™ was born.
Fast forward to January 2017 and I filed to get a DBA (doing business as) for this business. I spent a year working to transition from Women Are Gamechangers to The Truth Confidant™. With the transition were more bumps and bruises than I could have ever anticipated. I could have easily given up and threw in the towel on many days. But I knew if I stuck with it, things would turn to a positive route. And it has.
Being able to journal, take my mental rest days and letting go of responsibilities that serve me no purpose opened the door to a clear and focused future for me.
Here’s what that clear and focused thinking has brought me in 60 days:
(Literally from Nov. 1 – Dec. 28 all of this took place.)
- Being interviewed by none other than John Lee Dumas on his Entrepreneur on Fire podcast in conjunction with the launch of his The Mastery Journal. Check out my episode, here.
- I was offered a speaking opportunity in front of the exact crowd I have been trying to figure out how to get in front of for over a year. I will be speaking at the Texas Alliance of Black School Educators. My presentation will be for Principles and Superintendents on the topic of, “Mental Detox Strategies to Survive Test Season.”
- I went back into the classroom and quickly became one of their favorite and best ESL instructors.
If you noticed my simple mental detox strategy consist of:
- Taking mental rest days
- Getting rid of unnecessary responsibilities.
I wake up each and every single day happy and at peace. Plus, I get to do all the things I love to do, help people and make money in the process. The best part, most of these opportunities I haven’t had to heavily pitch for. They either presented themselves or I just stated what I do and the door quickly opened.
Don’t you want that too?
2017 can and will be a better year for you as long as you do your mental detox strategy consistently.
