Podcast Welcome: A Toast to Truths is where I share the mental, financial and emotional frustrations of being an entrepreneur. This is S4E2 Transitions: Tears and Triumphs.
Q: Before we dive into today’s episode let me ask you this, do you resist transitions in your life?
In business there are many peaks and valleys which I discussed in S2E3. How we respond is a big determining factor in us moving to the next “level” or not. 2016 was a transitional year for me. Year ya’ll. So, you know this wasn’t a walk in the park. All aspects of my life especially in business was turned all the way upside down. This isn’t change what we talked about last week. This is deep rooted shifts in one’s life. It was one of the most painful experiences I’ve gone through yet there was also so much beauty in watching myself transition into this new phase of my life
Take a sip: Request to join The Truth Confidant w/ Vernetta R. Freeney Facebook group where I share information, resources and weekly lessons as it relates to mental detox. https://www.facebook.com/groups/truthconfidant/
These are the 5 biggest lessons I learned last year during my transition.
#1- Don’t allow yourself to put more trust into others especially when it comes to aspects of your personal life.
#2- Don’t keep “investing” in programs and coaches until you have fully vetted them and/or used what you’ve already paid for.
#3- Going back to a job temporarily is not the end of the world.
#4- Family isn’t everything.
#5- Don’t do everything you want to do at once.
Final Toast: The spring out of stress tip is letting go is part of life. Holding onto something or someone will cause more harm than good. Know when what you’re holding onto is poisoning you to the point that it makes the rest of your life toxic. Let it go and wish them (the people) well. Free of that emotional space you held.
